Her father was in U.S. service in Italy. Adams began performing and dancing professionally in the mid-1990s with Boulder Dinner Theatre, and later the Country Dinner Playhouse. After that, she relocated to Minnesota and was cast in Drop Dead Gorgeous, a mock documentarian film about beauty contests. In Los Angeles, she pursued an acting career after her debut film in which she portrayed a dizzy but friendly contestant.
